A Guide to Fixing Your Sliding Seat in Your Truck
The reason that your truck seat may get loose is due to the fact that they are used often. This is best noticed when your seat begins changing position even when you are not trying to move it. You an fix this on your own. All you need is the proper tools for the job.
Things Needed:
- Wrench
- T50 torx head
- Sockets
- Rachet
First: Oil
Make sure that you oil all the joints where there is metal making contact with other metal. This will make sure that you can easily adjust the seat to fit your preferences.
Second: Adjust
If it continues to slide when you are not wanting for it to, you will then need to use your wrench so that you can adjust the different joints. During this process you will also want to check to make sure that the slide is not damaged in any way. The wrench will not be able to fix anything that may be broken. It will only change the tightness of the joints. If there is anything that is damaged or broken, you are going to need to contact a repair shop.
Third: Remove Seat and Bracket
In order to replace the seats slider, you will need to take out your truck seats.n Make sure that you have unplugged all connections that are electrical that might be under the seats. It should not take any more tools than just your hands to unplug the connections. After you have this done, you are going to need a socket and rachet to remove the bracket for the slider that is under the base where the seat is attached. This will require the Torx head in order to remove the Torx bolts. These are what will be connecting the seat and the slider together.
Fourth: New Slider
When you put in the new slider, you are going to want to make sure it is fastened to the bracket with the same bolts you took out. You will use the socket that you have to tighten these. Put the seat in the truck and get it lined up with the holes. Put the bolts in and tighten them by hand using the same increments for each one. After you have done this, use the rachet to get them as tight as they are going to need to be.
